APA Climate Change Policy Guide

APA Climate Change Policy Guide

Purpose:
The American Planning Association has produced a Climate Change Policy Guide publication through the efforts of APA's Sustainable Communities Division (SCD). Embodied within the guide are over 50 policies and hundreds of supporting strategies to help planners proactively and effectively respond to a changing climate.
Description:
The policies and strategies contained within the guide are organized by the APA's six Sustainability Comprehensive Plan Standards categories which include: the Livable Built Environment, Harmony with Nature, Resilient Economy, Interwoven Equity, Healthy Communities, and Responsible Regionalism. There is also a separate category focused on needed federal and state policies. Each of the policy areas includes an introductory paragraph of the climate related topic, followed by a general policy statement, one or more supportive specific policy statements, and suggested strategies to achieve the policy outcome.
