United States Environmental Protection Agency (U.S. EPA)- Estimating the Health Benefits per-Kilowatt Hour of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy
Purpose:
To support entities looking to quantify energy efficiency and renewable energy benefits.
Description:
The benefits, developed by U.S. EPA, monetize the outdoor air quality benefits of investments related to energy efficiency and renewable energy. EPA developed regional estimates of benefits based on eight types of energy efficiency, energy storage, and renewable energy initiatives: Uniform energy efficiency, Energy efficiency at peak, Distributed solar energy, Utility solar energy, Distributed PV-plus-storage, Utility PV-plus-storage, Onshore wind energy, and Offshore wind energy,
In 2024, EPA updated the technical report on the values using updated data and tools. These values were used developing various tools, including the EPA AVoided Emissions and geneRation Tool (AVERT) and CO-Benefits Risk Assessment (COBRA) Health Impacts Screening and Mapping Tool.
